Lip Enhancement & Lip Volume Treatment Sydney NSW

Lip Volume Treatment can treat concerns about naturally slim lips.

Some people are born with naturally thin lips, while others notice that their lips are thinning as they get older. This can be accompanied by fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Lip volume treatment is a non-surgical way to treat these concerns.

Lip Volume Treatment with Dr Hunt

Both thin lips and lines are treatable with non-surgical procedures such as Wrinkle Treatment and Volume Lip Treatment. During a Facial Volume Treatment, the area around the lips can be targeted according to the patient’s desire for more volume. A Cosmetic Lip Treatment could also help if you prefer not to have this type of treatment. An Upper Lip Surgery is also another more permanent option.

What Are the Benefits of Lip Volume Treatment?

The Lip Volume Treatment can give you the following benefits:

  • Altering the lip volume
  • Customisable treatment that can target lip irregularities
  • Less expensive than Lip Surgery
  • Less discomfort and downtime than surgery
  • Minimally-invasive

Results may vary, so ensure that you consider the treatment in view of the risks, the longevity of the treatment, and your particular cosmetic goals.

What Causes Thinning Lips?

Aside from signs of ageing, other factors can lead to volume loss in your lips which results in thinning. These include the following:

  • Dehydration
  • Genetics
  • Smoking
  • Sun damage
  • Underlying medical condition
  • Vitamin deficiency

Who is a Good Candidate for Lip Volume Treatment?

To be considered for Lip Volume Treatment, you should have:

  • Good physical and mental health
  • Lip shape unevenness, wrinkles, or other cosmetic concerns
  • A desire to alter the appearance of your lips
  • Realistic expectations

Lip Volume Treatments are not right for you if you have:

  • An active oral infection
  • Bleeding or clotting disorders
  • Severe skin laxity
  • Unrealistic expectation

How Is the Lip Volume Procedure Performed?

During the procedure, the practitioner will offer options for painkillers or analgesia that will range from applying a numbing cream or ice compress to your lips, the use of Nitrous Oxide gas known as “happy gas”, or a local anaesthetic nerve block. Each has advantages and disadvantages and this will be discussed in the consultation prior to your treatment.

The practitioner will then administer the treatment to your lips. Depending on the area needing treatment, your practitioner will target the edges, centre of your upper lip, and corners of your mouth. Depending on your lip condition, the entire procedure can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete.

After the procedure, you may experience swelling, bruising, and sensitivity in your lips as side effects. The discomfort usually goes away without any medical intervention after 24 hours to 48 hours. In some cases, you may need to wait up to a week for them to completely resolve. Once the practitioner has assessed your overall health condition, you will be allowed to go home, but you will need to return for follow-up after a few weeks.

Recovery After Lip Volume

The recovery period after a Lip Volume Procedure can take up to a few days for most patients. During this time, make sure to take the prescribed analgesic medication to help alleviate any potential discomfort.

It is best to avoid strenuous physical activities during the first weeks after treatment. Here are more recommendations for the recovery period after Lip Volume Treatment:

  • Avoid smoking, vaping, and drinking alcohol for at least 2 weeks
  • Avoid direct heat and steam in your face
  • Avoid massaging the lips
  • Have a healthy and balanced diet
  • Keep your body hydrated

To avoid risks and complications that could occur during the recovery period, make sure to follow Dr Hunt’s indications.
