How Is the Lip Volume Procedure Performed?
During the procedure, the practitioner will offer options for painkillers or analgesia that will range from applying a numbing cream or ice compress to your lips, the use of Nitrous Oxide gas known as “happy gas”, or a local anaesthetic nerve block. Each has advantages and disadvantages and this will be discussed in the consultation prior to your treatment.
The practitioner will then administer the treatment to your lips. Depending on the area needing treatment, your practitioner will target the edges, centre of your upper lip, and corners of your mouth. Depending on your lip condition, the entire procedure can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete.
After the procedure, you may experience swelling, bruising, and sensitivity in your lips as side effects. The discomfort usually goes away without any medical intervention after 24 hours to 48 hours. In some cases, you may need to wait up to a week for them to completely resolve. Once the practitioner has assessed your overall health condition, you will be allowed to go home, but you will need to return for follow-up after a few weeks.
