Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

A surgical brow lift is a cosmetic procedure also known as a forehead lift.

The procedure can be performed as a standalone intervention or in association with other plastic surgery procedures. Make sure to discuss your desires and expectations from the surgery during the initial consultation with Dr Hunt. The operative plan is designed for your needs and specific characteristics. When it comes to plastic surgery, there is no one-size-fits-all.

Brow Lift Frequently Asked Questions

When can I go home after Brow Surgery?

You may be able to go home the same day as your brow lift surgery, at which time you’ll be given a prescription for medication to help manage any pain.

Will I have to return for post-operative care after Brow Surgery?

You’ll visit Dr Hunt within the first week of your surgery. At this stage, Dr Hunt will remove and sutures or staples. You will then have follow up visits at six weeks, six months and 12 months.

How long will I be off work after Brow lift?

You should plan on taking seven to 10 days off work to allow a full recovery.

How long does a Brow Lift last?

An eyebrow lift lasts 10-12 years before needing revision. The procedure reverses the signs of ageing, however, it does not stop the ageing process. The skin will continue to lax and the eyebrows will drop again in a decade or more. However, you can get a second brow lift to restore the results when you need it.

At what age should I get a Brow Lift?

The best age to get a brow lift is between 40 and 60. By this age, some patients will have droopy eyebrows and want them fixed.

Is a Brow Lift the same as anti-wrinkle injections?

A brow lift can be done using botulinum toxin. However, that’s called a non-surgical brow lift. Anti-wrinkle injections will relax the forehead muscles and allow your eyebrows to move back up. However, non-surgical eyebrow lifts are temporary and require re-injection in 4-6 months.

What is a mini Brow Lift?

A mini brow lift is another term used to refer to the transpalpebral brow lift. It’s considered a “mini” procedure since it is minimally invasive – even less invasive than endoscopic brow lift. It specifically targets the outer third of your eyebrows and lifts it back up into position. It’s done in combination with eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) and through the same wound.

Can a Brow Lift address hooded eyes?

Yes, many times a brow lift can widen your eyes and pull the eyelids up along with the eyebrows. However, many patients need an additional blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) to specifically target the eyelids. Eyelid lift and brow lift can be combined together and performed through the same incisions (transpalpebral brow lift).

Does Brow Lift help with crow's feet?

Yes. Most brow lifts will improve the wrinkles around your eyes (crow’s feet). However, sometimes fillers and chemical peeling might be additionally needed to complement the results.

Is a Brow Lift invasive?

A brow lift is an invasive surgery. The endoscopic brow lift, however, is less invasive compared to the traditional open forehead lift.

Does a Brow Lift look natural?

Our surgeons perform subtle changes to ensure that the brows are lifted in the most natural-looking way possible.

Does Brow Surgery change the eye shape?

A brow lift can widen your eyes. So, yes, in a way, a brow lift can change the appearance of the eyes.

What are the risks and complications of Brow Lift Surgery?

Like any other surgery, an eyebrow lift is also associated with some surgical risks. Complications only rarely take place, and they might include:

  • Bleeding
  • Wound infection
  • Excessive scarring
  • Seroma formation (fluid collection)
  • Hematoma formation (blood collection)
  • Numbness in parts of the scalp
  • Retracted hairline
  • Nerve damage

To reduce the risks of brow lift complications, you should choose a plastic surgeon that has extensive experience in performing facial procedures. Our surgeons, Dr Hunt and Dr Maryam, have performed hundreds of facial procedures over the years.
